John Davis is author of A Vast Amount of Trouble and Goodbye, Judge Lynch (University of Oklahoma Press, 2000 and 2005), about the cattle-sheep troubles and vigilante killings in Wyoming's Big Horn Basin early in the 20th century. A new book about the Johnson County War is due out soon from the same publisher.

Davis grew up in Worland and graduated from the University of Wyoming College Of Law in 1968. He has practiced law in his home town since 1973. He lives with his wife, Celia, in a house built in 1917 by Sadie and Charlie Worland, subjects of his first book, Sadie and Charlie, a biography. Davis will speak on the panel, "Plucking Meaning from Wyoming's Past" on Wyoming History at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18th, at the Fort Caspar Museum and will be available to sign books following the panel.
